At midnight on Friday December 2nd, 42 students and 6 chaperones boarded a southbound coach bus and woke up at the Ferry Station on Staten Island. We took the ferry into Manhattan, toured the financial district, took some pictures of the bull, from both ends, and had breakfast in the old Pearl Diner. We attended a Broadway Rehearsal Workshop with a music director and ensemble cast member learning the music and dance of a song from the Broadway show, Beetlejuice. Students split up into groups to see the Natural History Museum, Central Park, Fifth Avenue shops, the Nintendo store, Time Square, BookOff!, Disney Store, and many more sights and experiences. We then ate and wandered through Hard Rock Cafe, NYC, and settled in to see Beetlejuice on Broadway. After an amazing show with most of the original Broadway cast, we walked over to Rockefeller Plaza to see The Tree, met our bus again and arrived back at HF-L early Sunday morning. Between the incredible Broadway show, the picturesque ferry ride past Lady Liberty into Manhattan, the throngs at time square for Christmas shopping, and the size of the rats in the subway, there was something for everybody!
